Summary: MUSICO standardized inventory procurement that had been custom-built per client and per site into a single engine where new clients are added as data. Order methods switch via a pluggable adapter design, double-ordering is prevented automatically, and a pilot site proved the full flow from stock entry to confirmed orders — building a foundation where new sites onboard by configuration alone.
Grasping stock, building order data, and placing orders were custom-built with separate tools for each client and site. Manual work remained, and client-specific settings — storage locations, suppliers, reorder rules — were hard-coded into the program, so every new client required development. Scalability was capped.
Guided by "one engine, clients added as data (zero code changes)," we unified the ordering logic. Client-specific conditions are managed as data across four masters — products, suppliers, delivery sites, and operating policy — while the final purchase confirmation stays with a human across all clients.
Because we run the floor ourselves, we knew the realities of procurement — and could redesign from "custom builds" to "standardization." Polish one engine, add clients as data: a form of DX built for horizontal rollout.
